UBTEB has been using manual processes to register all candidates since 2011. In order to upgrade to faster service of all training institutions presenting candidates to the Board, UBTEB has organized training of over 139 academic registrars in the whole from 27th June to 28th June 2017.The training will take a period of three days at seven Training centres at Uganda College of Commerce-Kabale, Uganda College of Commerce-Soroti, Uganda Technical College -Lira, Uganda Technical College-Kichwamba, Arua Technical Institute-Ragem, Kyambogo University and Pioneer Technical Institute-Iganga. The training shall be conducted by a team of experts from UBTEB Secretariat.
The Principal Officer in charge of Examinations Delivery, Manuscript and Awards Mr.Sam Patrick Ogwang said that the training on online registration will assist in data capture for all fresh candidates being presented by the training institutions for the Nov/Dec 2017 examinations series. “All continuing students are already on the Examinations Information Management System (EIMS) and therefore the academic Registrars will be required to provide soft copies of all candidates’ bio data as per the entry forms issued by the Board” Ogwang stated. The people trained will be work as trainers of students in their respective institutions so that they are able to register themselves online. Ogwang added.
“As the Board grows, it has registered increase in the students’ numbers and with the Examinations Information Management System (EIMS), the Board will be able to print candidates’ transcripts and certificates on time and with ease to detect any errors” Onesmus Oyesigye, Executive Secretary stated. Oyesigye said that inline with the strategic plan of the Board, the integration of ICT systems in all Board’s operations is critical to enable effective and efficient performance of the core duties of the Board.
